The lids are modified with a leak-proof compression fit PTFE syringe filter that is considered superior over conventional filter patches and acts as a barrier against airborne contaminants like bacteria, molds and viruses which can easily spoil your LC. These filters are essential in preventing the entry of unwanted microorganisms that can outcompete the desirable mushroom mycelium. 
The syringe filters allow for controlled gas exchange ensuring the mycelium receives the necessary oxygen while preventing the accumulation of inhibiting CO2.
The lids encompass a unique patented design to mold itself around the glass lip of the jar to ensure leak-proof capability without the use of separate rubber seals.
